What is on this server

Static HTML, CSS, JavaScript and a wordmark. No torrent files, no magnet links, no metadata describing any work, no user uploads and no index. Nothing that could be a copy of your material is stored here, because there is nowhere to store it: the site has no database and no upload path.

What a notice can achieve here

XTORX can remove an entire index from its source catalogue, so the site stops linking to that index at all. That is the only meaningful action available on this end, and it is a blunt one: the removal applies to every search, not to one work.

It cannot remove your material, because your material is not here. It cannot remove a specific listing, because there are no listings: each link is generated from whatever the visitor typed, and no record of it exists on this side.

Where a notice will actually work

To have something taken down, send the notice to whoever is hosting or indexing it: the operator of the index in question, or their host. Those sites hold the listings and are the ones able to remove them. Every index linked from XTORX is named on the about page with its own address.

Sending a notice

Write to info@xtorx.com. To be actionable, a notice should identify:

• the work you hold rights in, and the basis for that claim;
• the index you are asking to have dropped from the catalogue, by name and domain;
• a means of contacting you;
• a statement, made in good faith, that the use complained of is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law.

Notices are read and answered. A notice that asks for the removal of a link to a third party's general-purpose search page, with no specific claim attached, will be answered with this page.

Counter-notices and bad-faith notices

If an index is dropped and its operator believes that was wrong, the same address reaches a person. Knowingly false claims of infringement carry consequences under the law in most jurisdictions, including liability for costs.
